If you're dancing and performing on stage, applying eyeliner will open up and enlarge your eyes. It will define and
accentuate your eyes and can be used for many different dramatic looks.
Black is the best color, especially on stage when you want to make your eyes pop. It will enhance your eyes and complement
every color of makeup.
Use other colors for different effects. Use white on the inner
rims or lower lash line to widen and open up your eyes. This
creates large, dramatic eyes for stage performances.
Eyeliner has been used since ancient times, just think of Cleopatra, to enhance the eyes. It completes the eye make up look.

Types of Eyeliners
Eyeliners come in several different forms.
You have the pencil, nice and easy to use, make sure you have a good makeup pencil sharpener to always keep the pencil sharp.
You can use shadow, by dipping an eyeliner brush into an eyeshadow, tap off any excess and then
applying eyeliner by brushing it onto the lids. This creates a very soft look, which you can then use to blend into a smoky look.
Liquid eyeliners come in a bottle with a brush, just brush the eyeliner on in a sweeping line. These create bold, dramatic looks.
Cream and gel eyeliners will come in a compact or tub. Simply use a brush to dip into the eyeliner and apply to your lids.
They are all so versatile and each help to create different looks.
Which type of eyeliner you use depends on what type of look you want. If you want a precise, definite line, then use a liquid
liner.
Once dried it will stay in place exactly where you put it.
If you want to create a smoother, blended look, blending your eyeshadow and
then adding your eyeliner to enhance the smoky look without a start and finish line, then you want to use either a pencil,
shadow or perhaps the gel, which you can apply, and then blend to create a smoky look. Gel will dry, but you have a little
time to work it in and blend it before it dries.
How to Apply Eyeliner
There are so many ways to apply eyeliner, smudged or stark, each one can create a different look.
If you have a wobbly hand, rest your elbow on a bench.
Draw the line along your lashes as close to your lashes as you can go. You do not want to see skin between your eyeliner and
the lashes!
If your eyes are close set, don't take your eyeliner right into the corner of your eyes, instead start the line a little way along to
create more width between the eyes.
To open up the eyes and make them pop, use a white eyeliner on
the inside rim of the lids.
Also add a little white eyeliner to highlight the inner corner of the eyes. Or use a light shimmery shadow instead. This helps
to give the eyes a wider open look, great for on stage.
Children do not like to have eye liner on the inner rims of their eyes, instead, apply a white eyeliner just below the lower, along the lower eyelash line.
Pencil
Make sure the pencil is sharpened. Roll it between your hands to warm the pencil, this helps to give a smoother
application.
Start at the inside corner or your eye and draw a line along your lashline to the outer corner of the eye. The line needs to
be thin at the inside corner of your eye and increase in thickness to the outer.
If the line is not very straight, use a brush or smudge tip to blend it together.
Liquid
Draw a line, from the inside corner to the outside corner in one sweep, creating a slight arc to the line, getting thicker nearer
the outer corner.
You can start from the middle of the eye working out to create the thicker part of the line. Then go back to the inner corner and
draw a thin line joining up to the line in the middle.
Cream or Gel
Use a brush and draw your lines as you do with the liquid liner.
You have a little more time until these dry to blend it into your shadows to create a softer, blended look or the smoky look.
Use a brush or smudge tip to blend the liner.
