CENTER STAGE MOVIE
Center Stage follows 12 teenagers as they audition and make it into the American Ballet Academy in New York. The film focuses on three young students as they study
and prepare for the showcase and ultimately a position in the Ballet Corps. There is Jody, who dreams of being a ballerina, but doesn't have
the ideal body for ballet and
whose technique needs a lot of work. Eva, who doesn't have the right attitude, clashes with everyone and doesn't fit in, but was born to
dance and continually surprises the teachers with her dance skills. Maureen, who has sacrificed all her childhood for dancing and dedicated
herself to becoming a prima ballerina. We see tensions arise between Jonathon, the company's director and choreographer and Cooper, his
main dancer, who also wants the chance to choreograph. As they prepare for the final performance, they find their passions taking them in different
directions.
Center Stage movie is worth watching just for the great dance numbers as well as a look at how much practice and training is necessary to make it as a dancer. This is a lively upbeat film that will get you up off the chair and dancing along with it! It also has a great soundtrack with numbers by Mandy Moore, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Jamiroquai and Michael Jackson, plus many others.
