DIRTY DANCING MOVIE

This is her last summer as a carefree adolescent, a little Daddy's girl, whose future is all mapped out for her, to join the Peace Corps, then get married to a Doctor, just like her father.

Baby finds the holiday resort boring, and is soon swept off her feet by Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze), the sexy, resort dance instructor. She joins Johnny and the other hotel staff as they dance and move in a way she's never seen before. She loves their passionate, hot "dirty dancing" and soon falls head over heels in love with Johnny.

When Johnny's dance partner, Penny, becomes pregnant, Johnny teaches Baby to dance and they do a show together in a nearby town. Baby's father finds out about Baby and Johnny, and believing it was Johnny who made Penny pregnant, bans Baby from seeing him again.

They have one final show stopping dance together at the end. This scene has been described as "the most goosebump - inducing dance scene in a movie". This is when Johnny utters that famous line "Nobody puts Baby in the corner".

Johnny leads Baby on stage and she finally overcomes her fears and self doubts and trusts Johnny to lift her high in the air and finish the dance.

This is a coming of age story, of an innocent teenage girl growing up and experiencing the emotional and physical side of being in love, whilst trying to break free of her family constraints to keep her a sheltered child. It shows her father having to learn to let go and let her daughter grow up and trust her to make the right decisions.

There is a great soundtrack to the film, with music to dance to, including the latin based dances and of course the huge hit from the film, "I Had the Time Of My Life". Click on the image on the right for more information on the songs from the film.
