SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER MOVIE

Saturday Night Fever Movie
The Saturday Night Fever movie defined the disco culture of the 1970's.

Tony Manero (John Travolta) is an uneducated young man living in Brooklyn. He leads a dead-end existence, working as a paint-store clerk by day, and hanging out with his friends every night. He lives and works for the weekend, the highlight of his week, when he goes to the disco. There he is King of the dancefloor, the guy everyone wants to know, talk to, dance with and emulate.

He saves all his money to buy the best suits and clothes and is always fussing over how he looks. He spends all his spare time at a local studio practicing his dance moves.

He meets Stephanie. She is different to all the local girls he knows. He sees that she could be the dance partner he needs to win a big dance competition and they agree to dance together. Tony tries to romance her, but she turns him down. She can see his life is going nowhere. She has high ambitions and is planning to move up in life as well as move across the river to Manhatten. She is only interested in people who can help her get there.

Slowly Tony becomes disillusioned as he sees his life through her eyes. He realises he has no future and turns to Stephanie to help him do something more with his life.

Saturday Night Fever was a massive hit in the late 1970's, when disco was huge. The film had an extremely successful soundtrack, the title track (along with many others) by The Bee Gees. At times at least four song tracks from the film would be in the singles charts at any one time. The success of the soundtrack and the hit film, kept both the film and the songs popular for a long time.

If you ever want a cd with the best seventies disco music this is it. It is the ultimate disco cd. Many of the songs by The Bee Gees, some of them being Stayin' Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, Night Fever, More Than a Woman, as well as Yvonne Elliman - If I Can't Have You, Tavares - More Than a Woman, The Trammps - Disco Inverno, plus more tracks by Kool and the Gang, KC & the Sunshine Band and others.

This is the film that catapulted John Travolta's career to superstar.

There is the original R rated version as well as a PG edited version of this film, for younger viewers.
