TAKE THE LEAD MOVIE

Take The Lead Dance Movie Take the Lead is based on a true story of Pierre Dulaine, a dance instructor in New York. He teaches Latin and Ballroom dancing to the privileged. He is neat, tidy, a perfect gentleman with impeccable manners. His elegant, sexy, smart style of dancing is reflected through his life.

One day he sees some street kids vandalising a public school director's car and the next day visits the school to volunteer his time to teach dance to the underprivileged kids, believing they can learn to love and respect themselves through dance.

The director, not believing he can do anything for these kids, or that he will last more than one day, gives him the detention class. He receives nothing but criticism and ignorance from the other teachers, the parents and the students themselves, who don't want anything to do with him, prefering their hip hop style of music.

Even his students and colleagues at his dance school think it is a bad idea and try to dissuade him from his venture.

In a stark contrast to Pierre's personality and lifestyle, his students are poor and uneducated, mixing in street gangs, illegal dealings, violent home life, never far from a life of crime. They are all struggling to survive.

Pierre finally finds a way through to the students when he shows them how sexy his style of dancing can be with a tango session. Slowly they learn the new dance steps and agree to compete in a ballroom dance contest.

Through Pierre the students learn that they can be good at something if they try, how something small can make a difference in their life and to find their passion. Pierre, who's wife had died years ago, also learns through the kids, to risk living and loving again.

A great film, funny, moving, emotional and inspiring. The fact it's based on a true story gives this film all the more credibility. Some wonderful music in the Take the Lead soundtrack to listen to.
